<description>"The Wire" is, in fact, the best show on television. It is also the best police show ever. I'm in my 7th year as a cop in a city as mean as Baltimore, so I know what I'm talking about. It's a tough, smart show with characters, both cop and criminal alike, who are troubled, complicated, and interesting as hell.
In the beginning of Season 2, a couple of drug dealers are driving from Baltimore to Philadelphia. The radio in their van starts to crackle, and what happens next--their reaction to the crackling and the station they turn to next--is a precise illustration of why this show often approaches the sublime.</description>
